A superb fossil Amia kehreri from Messel, near Frankfurt, Germany, measuring 8.9″ long on matrix measuring 10.1″ x 4 “. Excellent preservation of fins and vertebra on this complete example. Specimens from this region represent some of the most finely preserved fossil fish in the world and are extremely rare. Always saught after and great for display. Dates from the middle Eocene, approx. 50,000,000 years old. This piece was collected in 1974 (see ID tag on rear of fossil shown below). It has been prepared using traditional transfer methods and the quality is exquisite!
